144 ACRE PRIVATE PRESERVE LOCATED ALONG THE BANKS OF ONE OF CALIFORNIA'SMOST FAMOUS TROPHY TROUT FISHERIES

ABOUT

One of the most unique tailwaters in the the west, the Yuba River is the location of one of the most devastating environmental disasters of the nineteenth century early twentieth century, that led to the very first ever environmental protection legislation enacted by congress.  Beginning in the later half of the 1800s hydrolic gold mining caused millions of tons of gravel and silt to be washed down the river and devestate both the riparian corridor and the agriculture of the central valley of California.  After the US Congress ended the hydrolic mining the river began a slow process of recovery though even today you can see remnants of the extensive mining that occured there over a hundred years ago.  Given enough time and with help of the conservation community and mother nature, the damage has been mitigated and the river now hosts one of the most healthy aquatic environments in the state that maintaines a wild trout and salmon population which is rivaled by few other waters in the country.

The Yuba is one of the few rivers left in the state without a fish hatchery to maintain its anadromous fishery and it's year round wild native trout.  Because the lower Yuba water flows from the base of Englebright Dam the water temperatures remain perfect for the fish even during the over 100+ degree days of the summer.  That is one of the reasons that the Yuba's trout are legendary for their fighting ability that is unequaled by any other California tailwater.
