Fishing Report-Good: Miles at Trout Creek Outfitters
https://www.troutcreekoutfitters.com in Truckee reports "The opener last week proved to be one of the better ones in recent years as the amount of 20+ pound fish caught was nothing short of outstanding. Using flies this time of year involves some pretty unique techniques, with float tubes or boats, fish finders, either fast sinking lines or braided lines in place of standard fly lines, and very heavy jigged streamers all working together to effectively find fish in 30+ feet of water. The fish this time of year are fat from a summer of eating tui chub and are full of fight due to warm water temps. While this investment in such specific gear for a seemingly short window of fishing here can seem a bit excessive, it is also one of the best times of year to find the largest trout of your life, so it’s easy to understand the appeal. In another few weeks, the bait balls of Tui Chubs will begin to disperse as water temps cool and we should begin to see fish migrate in closer to shore as early as the end of October. Last year we saw some of the best shore fishing of the year in the month of November, and we hope for similar conditions again this year. This drop in temps and windy days this week will certainly help the cause."
